As Liam Coen has been named the new head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, he has now started making some changes. Now, he has asked Trevor Lawrence to adjust a key aspect in order to improve his game.
The Jaguars are undergoing a huge rebuild currently. The AFC South club has not been able to find the success expected despite all the efforts of the front office to build a solid roster around Trevor Lawrence.
The club still regards Trevor Lawrence as the future of the franchise. Nevertheless, he needs to make some adjustments to become an elite player, and his new head coach is aware of it.
Liam Coen names the one thing Trevor Lawrence needs to adjust immediately
Earlier this year, the Jaguars made the decision to fire Doug Pederson as head coach. He didn’t deliver the results expected by the front office, prompting the club to find a replacement for the 2025 NFL season.

The Jaguars stayed in Florida to hire their new head coach. The AFC South club convinced Liam Coen to leave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and join their cause, this time for a tougher job as head coach.
Coen did a great job in Tampa Bay with Baker Mayfield. The quarterback praised him when he signed with the Jaguars, telling Trevor Lawrence that he will improve under the guidance of his former offensive coordinator.
Now, Lawrence is starting to see how Coen can improve his game. The head coach sees the quarterback as a cornerstone for the Jaguars, but there is a slight adjustment he needs to make in order to achieve success.

“It’s not really a change — just tweaking,” Coen said about Trevor Lawrence’s footwork. “He’s extremely talented and he’s made some unbelievable plays in critical moments and led some huge comebacks. He’s played hurt, he’s done so many good things. Now it’s just about, OK, how do we fine-tune it and just tighten it up a little bit to get him in a place where he’s comfortable to cut the ball loose on time and in rhythm regardless of the circumstances? And that’s really what it comes down to. Being able to give him some balance around him so that he can feel like, man, not every play is on me. Not every play I’ve got to — every throw I have to make is going to have to be life or death. We’ve got to create some balance for him so that he can just go play quieted, free of failure and just go let it rip.”
Will Trevor Lawrence be traded?
While the Jaguars recently gave Trevor Lawrence a huge contract extension, he has not lived up to the expectations set by the front office. Time is running out for the former 1st overall pick, and he needs to deliver results soon in order to keep the team calm.
