NFL News: Mike Tomlin and Steelers have reportedly made blockbuster trade to acquire star wide receiver

The Pittsburgh Steelers are making waves this offseason with a bold move to upgrade their offense. Mike Tomlin and the front office have reportedly pulled off a blockbuster trade to land a star wide receiver, signaling their intent to compete for a Super Bowl.

Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers need to make a big splash in free agency if they want to be Super Bowl contenders. After 16 years without a championship, there is no more room for error.

Last season ended, once again, in a disappointing way. A 10-7 record and an early exit in the playoffs after being absolutely dominated by Lamar Jackson and the Ravens in the Wild Card round.

Now, in something unusual for the franchise, general manager Omar Khan has decided that this is not the time to wait. Before choosing between Russell Wilson or Justin Fields, a star wide receiver has arrived in Pittsburgh.

Who did the Steelers trade for DK Metcalf?

The Steelers have acquired DK Metcalf in a blockbuster trade with the Seahawks and, in exchange, Pittsburgh has given up a second-round pick in the upcoming 2025 Draft. They will also flip picks in the sixth and seventh rounds.

Did the Steelers sign DK Metcalf?

Yes. The Steelers have signed DK Metcalf to a four-year, $132 million contract extension, according to a report from Tom Pelissero. Now, the big question is if Russell Wilson, Justin Fields or someone else will be the starting quarterback in 2025.
