Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers have had a very controversial few months due to the uncertainty around who will be their starting quarterback. At the moment, it seems to be between Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph.
However, if the veteran decides not to sign with the team, the big question is whether thereâs a backup plan. As usual, the Steelers want to have four quarterbacks on the roster for training camp, and without Rodgers, they would only have three.
The depth chart would include Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and rookie Will Howard. Thatâs why, for several weeks now, there have been strong rumors about a surprising name that could help Pittsburgh.
Who will Steelers sign for QB?
The Steelers could sign Kirk Cousins as their quarterback if Aaron Rodgers declines to play in Pittsburgh. According to a report by Mike DeFabo, itâs practically a given that they would at least call the Falcons to explore the price of a trade.
âSome conversations that I had and the things that Iâve heard within the organization, it sounded like, at some point, at some price, they would at least have a conversation (for Cousins). I donât know if they would actually pull the trigger on something like that.â
