NFL News: Mike Tomlin and the Steelers don’t have a promising update about Aaron Rodgers

Tensions are rising as the Pittsburgh Steelers' hopes for a game-changing quarterback face uncertainty. Despite the buzz around Aaron Rodgers potentially leading the team, Mike Tomlin and the Steelers have yet to deliver any promising news.

Each new update about Aaron Rodgers seems to increase the tension surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, a report from Jeremy Fowler indicates that there is nothing concrete between the two sides regarding a possible deal.

ā€œThe deal is the Steelers are just kind of hanging right now. When I talk to people with the team, they say the same thing. They have had contact with Aaron Rodgers. They remain optimistic that he’ll be a Steeler, but, there’s just nothing fast and firm yet on him signing with the team. So, they continue to develop Mason Rudolph and Will Howard on OTAs. They would hope that by minicamp, June 10 to 12, that he is a part of it. But, right now, this has been unpredictable.ā€

The Steelers have said time and again that they believe they can contend for a Super Bowl with Rodgers and, if that doesn’t happen, do it with Mason Rudolph. It’s the only reason that explains so much patience at the most important position in football.

Who will be the next Steelers starting quarterback?

Aaron Rodgers is the projected name to be the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the reality is that there is still no official response from the player, and anything can happen at any moment.

With less than two months until training camp begins, Rodgers doesn’t have many options. The Steelers, retirement, or, in the scenario that has been talked about the least lately, the possibility that a contender might pick him up at the last minute if one of their starting quarterbacks gets injured. That seems very unlikely.
