Travis Kelce explained publicly for the first time why he decided not to retire after the Kansas City Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Eagles. It all happened on his podcast, New Heights.

ā€œThe biggest thing is that I love playing the game of football. I don’t think it was my best outing. I think I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them. I want to give it a good run. I got a bad taste in my mouth on how I ended the year and how well I was playing and how accountable I was for the people around me.ā€

Kelce has one more year on his contract, and everything seems to indicate that 2025 will officially be his last season with Patrick Mahomes. Whatever happens, there will be no turning back. One final chance to conquer another championship.

Is Travis Kelce retiring from football?

No. Travis Kelce confirmed that he will not retire from football and admitted on New Heights that he feels a personal responsibility to fulfill his contract with the Chiefs, the team that gave him everything to become an NFL star.

ā€œI don’t want to leave that life yet. Last year, it didn’t end well for us. I feel like there’s a responsibility in me to play out the contract that I initially signed to give Kansas City and the Chiefs organization everything that I got and that’s what I’m going to do.ā€
