Taylor Swift explained on the New Heights podcast with Travis Kelce what she considers to be her ‘welcome moment’ to the NFL. A key episode for the Chiefs and the dynasty led by Patrick Mahomes.
“I’d say it was the first time I stepped on the field, which would have been when the Chiefs won the AFC Championship Game the first season that I was with Travis. It was in Baltimore. We’re in the suite. They’ve just won the AFC Championship. We’re freaking out. Everybody’s screaming and his mom goes: ‘All right, let’s go down to the field.’ I was like: ‘What are we doing? What do you mean?’ We’re going where?’ And she says: ‘We’re going down to the field.’ I was like: ‘Did Travis say that was ok?’ We hadn’t talked about this.”
That game took place on January 28, 2024, when the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens 17-10, and two weeks later, they won the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.
Taylor Swift said ‘welcome’ to the NFL
Taylor Swift confirmed that she hadn’t talked with Travis Kelce about going down onto the field because the tight end didn’t want to jinx the game. The singer admitted that what she experienced that day was unforgettable.
“He doesn’t jinx anything, which I respect actually. I’m all about that. Her mom said to me: ‘Trust me, he wants you there.’ I’m walking out onto this field and it’s just like: ‘Oh my God.’ There’s so many lights. I’ve never seen so many cameras. I’ve never seen so much media in my life. Then the media sees me and they just start running at me. I’m experiencing this whole heightened scenario that I had no idea five minutes before I was going to be experiencing. It’s one of my most cherished memories. I was so proud of Travis.”
