Trevor Lawrence knows the Jacksonville Jaguars have fallen short of expectations in recent years. Still, the quarterback is confident that things are about to change—and he’s made it clear with a four-word warning to the rest of the NFL ahead of the 2025 season.
The Jaguars have never been considered one of the league’s most successful franchises. Founded in 1993, Jacksonville is still one of the NFL’s youngest teams and has struggled to establish itself as a true contender.
Hopes soared when the team selected Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 pick in 2021. Touted as a generational talent, he was expected to lead the franchise into a new era. But so far, the results have been mixed.
Trevor Lawrence sets bold tone for 2025 season
Despite glimpses of promise, the Jaguars have failed to capitalize in key moments—something that separates elite teams from the rest. The pressure is now on Lawrence to live up to his potential and elevate Jacksonville into serious playoff contention.
Though his performances haven’t been disastrous, they’ve fallen short of the lofty expectations that surrounded him when he entered the league. Many still see the Jaguars as one of the NFL’s most disappointing teams, but Lawrence wants to change that narrative.

In a recent statement, the quarterback sent a clear message: “go and start winning.” A simple but powerful declaration of his belief that the Jaguars are ready to compete at a much higher level this season.
“Where I’m at in my career, Year 5, it’s time to go and start winning consistently and be not just that team where it’s like, you know — you’re always like, no one really takes you seriously,” Lawrence said on Pardon My Take. “You want to be that team that’s always competing for the playoffs, Super Bowls, and you’re in the hunt.“
