It’s not every day that the NFL encounters a two-way prospect like Travis Hunter. When it does happen, it’s normal to make him the talk of the town. He is keen on playing both sides of the ball, as cornerback and wide receiver. The Jacksonville Jaguars are planning to help him do that, as a lockdown defender and as a Trevor Lawrence weapon. A team’s insider has revealed info about it.

According to Jacob Robinson from The Athletic, the Jaguars are going to use Hunter heavily on offense, at least to start the season. The report adds that he believes this because Hunter spent the majority of minicamp lining up as receiver.”

Hunter is also adding weight, which could mean even he’s getting stronger to go muscling opposing corners out of the way. However, it’s still early to predict how this will help him or not as corner.

Trevor and Travis should be very productive

Even if the Jaguars already have a first option in receiver Brian Thomas Jr., Travis Hunter can exploit his talents with Trevor Lawrence. The quarterback’s career has been filled with ups and downs, mainly more downs. However, Lawrence does have a very well-educated arm to throw the football. Hunter is a prolific route runner and if he creates separation, Lawrence will find him.

Lawrence has new weapons

Trevor Lawrence #16 of the Jacksonville Jaguars celebrates a touchdown scored by Travis Etienne Jr. #1 against the Kansas City Chiefs during the fourth quarter in the AFC Divisional Playoff game at Arrowhead Stadium on January 21, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Plus, it’s not only Brian Thomas Jr. and Hunter what defenses have to worry about. The Jaguars have been very excited about new weapon, Dyami Brown. Both Lawrence and new head coach Liam Coen have spoken wonders about him. This means, Hunter will get some good looks against lesser defenders.

The Jaguars could be on to something special

The team has a solid QB. While not an elite one, you just can’t ignore T-Law’s raw talent. Now he has a stacked wideout corp with a head coach eager to feed them all. The only need thing left is to regain their running game. Travis Etienne had a very bad year but he could still have something left in his tank to bounce back. Speaking of tanks, Tank Bigsby is coming off a career-year, being crucial for the offense. They also drafted speed-demon Bhayshul Tuten.

Four new faces were brought during free agency to strengthen the offensive. Tackle Fred Johnson, guards Chuma Edoga and Patrick Mekari are joining the team. Also, the Jags have a new center in Robert Hainsey, who was on Tampa Bay, which means he knows coach Coen. The Jags might be on the verge of having a very well-polished offense in the NFL.
