The 2024-25 UEFA Nations League returns with highly anticipated quarter-final matches, including Portugal’s visit to Copenhagen to face Denmark in the first leg. One of the main attractions will be the chance to see Cristiano Ronaldo continue adding to his historic goal tally.

The Al Nassr star is expected to start at Parken. Ronaldo is fit and ready to play, and he has shown strong form with 19 goals in the Saudi Pro League. This will be his first cap since becoming 40 years old in February.

For Portugal, Ronaldo scored five goals during the group stage. He is also the third-highest scorer in the Nations League all-time list, with 12 goals. However, in three previous matches against Denmark, he has yet to score or provide an assist.

Regardless, Portugal — winners of the inaugural Nations League in 2018–19 — are considered strong contenders after an impressive group stage, scoring 18 goals and remaining unbeaten at home.

Roberto Martinez’s team will face Denmark, whose coach Brian Riemer recently spoke on the GOAT debate, a side that reached the quarter-finals by finishing second in their group behind Spain, with a record of two wins, two draws, and two losses.
