This week Chicago will host the new WTA tournament, the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic, which will be held from September 27 to October 3. This new competition was created to replace the Asian tournaments this year due to their cancellation because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The XS Tennis Village will hold the event in which top tennis players, such as Garbiñe Muguruza, Bianca Andreescu, Belinda Bencic or Elina Svitolina are going to participate. The winner will earn 470 points for the rankings and, of course, a prize money.

One of the big attractions of the tournament will also be Kim Clijsters, who will return again to the tour since her first attempt in 2020. The Belgian “retired” twice before in 2007 and 2012. However, the competition will certainly be interesting this year.

Chicago Fall Tennis Classic 2021: How much money do the champions get?

The tournament is a WTA 500 and this type of events offer a prize money around $500,000. In this case, the tournament will give $565,530 to the winner. The category was implemented last year, when the WTA changed all the categories of their events.

While the players will grab good money for their participation, the event will also use their profits to help the XS Tennis and Education Foundation, which helps young people through tennis and academic programs.

Tickets for this event are available from $50 to $75. The event will be the first one to take place in a low-income area, according to the organizers. The idea is that kids who are part of the foundation get motivated watching some of the top players in the world.
