In an interview with DSports, Leandro Paredes revealed the squad made jokes about Garnacho’s fascination for CR7, but only to make him feel part of the group. 



“We joked about it with him. He is very shy and does not answer. Poor guy, we drove him crazy,” Paredes said, via Roy Nemer. “We also talked to him about what the group is, somehow we try to make them feel part of it and feel comfortable. Although in this case he got very nervous and couldn’t talk. But as he said, I think he is his idol, he always followed him a lot and he plays quite similar. So it’s normal, nothing happens.“



<h2>Garnacho looks up to both Ronaldo and Messi</h2>



Garnacho has never hidden his admiration for Ronaldo, recreating the Portuguese’s iconic goal celebrations on many occasions. He also let the world know how much he looks up to Cristiano on several Instagram posts.

“Obviously, when he (Garnacho) comes to the national team he has to change a little bit because there is ours (Messi),” Paredes said. Anyway, Garnacho may not need to be reminded about that.

While the jersey used in Qatar also had three light blue stripes, the new jersey has the logos in gold as a symbol of Argentina’s World Cup success. But they also represent La Albiceleste’s status as defending South American champs.



In 2021, Messi’s team upset Brazil at the Maracana to end a 28-year title drought. Notably, the kit will also feature the world champion badge on the center. Besides, the iconic Adidas stripes on the sleeves will be in light blue instead of black. The new Argentina shirt will reportedly launch in March 2024.

The event also had none other than FIFA president Gianni Infantino and CONMEBOL’s head, Alejandro Domínguez, who inaugurated the ceremony and praised Tapia’s work at the helm of the AFA.



Later on, Tapia took the floor and expressed pride in such an inauguration, acknowledging the effort it took to achieve it. “It’s a very special day because we’re launching the project for the sports fields and also these beautiful offices,” he stated.

According to the description on the official AFA website, the offices are located in Wynwood, occupying a 500 square meter space designed with extensive functionality for various offices. Dutch manager Louis van Gaal made some comments that didn’t sit well with Messi, who celebrated Argentina’s second goal in front of the Netherlands bench.



“I came up with the ‘Topo Gigio’ [named in honor of a cartoon character, a goal celebration in which a player puts his hands to the ears as a sign of defying someone] right there and I automatically regretted it,” Messi told ESPN. “As soon as I did it I thought: ‘What an idiot. They can still tie it’. These things usually happen.”

The Dutchman’s comments definitely backfired, as they served as bulletin board material for Messi and company. Angel Di Maria, who already held a grudge at van Gaal from his time at Manchester United, explained they were fired up by his words.



“It all started at the press conference. We were left with a lot of anger and energy inside that ended up being unleashed on the field,” said the Benfica star, who had previously called van Gaal the “worst coach” in his career.

<h2>Argentina could be punished after incidents in Brazil</h2>



FIFA accused the CBF, host of the match at Rio de Janeiro, of “potential violations of Article 17” of the disciplinary code, which stipulates rules regarding the order and security of matches.







On the other hand, AFA will have to answer for possible infractions of Articles 17.2 because of “inappropriate behavior of fans” and 14.5 regarding a delay in the start of the match.

It’s important to remember that Lionel Messi gave the order to his teammates of leaving the field as there was no security guaranteed because of the incidents with the police and Argentine fans.

Both the Brazilian Football Confederation and the Argentine Football Association could face various sanctions ranging from fines to matches without spectators.
