The Transfer Portal frenzy continues: every minute top players are taken off the board, shifting the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-football">college football’s</a> landscape. Lane Kiffin secured an elite weapon for the Ole Miss Rebels as he signed a former player of Kalen DeBoer in Alabama.



Ole Miss and Bama did not finish their <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a> seasons as they had envisioned going into the year. Both schools failed to make the 12-team playoffs and will instead participate in bowl games to conclude their play.



On the one hand, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/alabama">Alabama</a> will take on Michigan on December 31 at the Reliaquest Bowl. It’ll be the schools first meeting since last season’s CFP semifinal at the Rose Bowl. As for Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss, it will face Duke at the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on January 2. The Rebels and Blue Devils will face off for the first time in programs’ history.



Though winning the Gator Bowl is paramount for <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ole-miss">Ole Miss</a>, the Rebels are looking forward to next season, and the recent signing of a coveted wide receiver in the portal has fans in Oxford excited for the future.

Former Alabama wideout Caleb Odom announced his transfer to Ole Miss. The true freshman was dubbed a five-star recruit in the 2024 class and has three years of eligibility remaining.

<h2>Odom’s tenure in Tuscaloosa</h2>



It didn’t work out for Odom with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kalen-deboer">DeBoer</a> in Alabama. Coming in like a high-potential wideout, Odom was not utilized much and in turn, witnessed how fellow freshman WR Ryan Williams took over as the number one target for Milroe.



Despite appearing in every game for the Crimson Tide this season, Odom’s contributions were minimal, recording just seven receptions for 65 yards. Notably, the 6’5″ receiver failed to register a single catch in SEC play. 



However, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/lane-kiffin">Lane Kiffin</a> and the Ole Miss Rebels are betting on Odom’s untapped potential as he transitions to an offense-first program, where he’ll be able to start on a clean slate. 



Unless Alabama and Ole Miss meet in the SEC Championship or the Playoffs, Odom won’t have an opportunity for a revenge game in 2025, as the two teams are not scheduled to play each other.

The Ole Miss Rebels‘ regular season in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-football">NCAAF</a> has come to an end. With their victory over Mississippi State, Lane Kiffin‘s squad claimed the Egg Bowl and now await what’s next for the program in the immediate future. Jaxson Dart, the star QB of the team, knows the potential of his group and made it clear that they are just as competitive as anyone in the playoffs.


 


The Week 13 loss to the Florida Gators made it more difficult for the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ole-miss">Rebels</a> to secure a direct spot in the playoffs. However, after yesterday’s victory, it was QB Jaxson Dart himself who made it clear that his team deserves a place in the next stage.



“We’re the team that showed that we can beat anybody,” Dart stated to the media, regarding why Ole Miss deserves a Playoff spot. “And my pitch is, you know, you look at — you look at the conferences, you look at the strength of schedule, obviously, we slipped up some games that we definitely were not supposed to do, and that’s going to bite at us. But, you know, I definitely think, without a doubt, we’re one of the best teams in the country.”



Dart even went as far as to suggest that they ask Kirby Smart for his opinion on the matter: “I think you can go around and ask any coach that same question. You can go ask Kirby Smart what he thinks. Yeah, I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I know that if we get a shot, we’re gonna make a run at it, for sure.”

After their 26-14 victory over Mississippi State, the Rebels finished the regular season with a record of nine wins and just three losses. Under Lane Kiffin’s leadership, they were undoubtedly one of the most solid teams throughout the season.

The success of the Rebels this season is not only due to the talent on the roster but also to the strong human connection within the team. The bond that <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/lane-kiffin">Lane Kiffin</a> and Jaxson Dart have built throughout the season has driven both to give their absolute best



“The quarterback, you know, he’s just — he’s awesome. There’s a way you want your son to be, that’s what you want to have,” Kiffin said regarding Dart, via his postgame press conference. “Complete team player. Doesn’t care about stats, anything. He could care less that, you know, he threw 143 yards today. We saw the way he ran. His emotion at the end of the game. Just tried to help him keep it together. Because he cares, man. He cares about this team, he cares about this university.”


 


Kiffin also added: “That didn’t happen a lot in college football anymore, if you look around. So, this guy’s special. I hope people appreciate him. Yesterday, (he) became the all time leader, passing Eli [Manning], in the history of the school, and the most wins in the history of the school for a quarterback. So, I’m sure there’s appreciation, but I hope everybody has appreciation for what they watch with this guy, and how he plays the game.“



“The guy’s playing with a bad ankle the whole time too. … That’s a lost generation, whatever, in college football. That guy’s passion, that guy — that guy plays the way that like, (former Ole Miss quarterback turned Associate AD for Player Development) Tom Luke talks about this rivalry. You know, the way he talks about how it used to be and how much — Tom won’t drive him a room rental car. Will not. Won’t step foot in one, won’t let anyone give him a ride in one. Like, that’s how Jaxson Dart plays the game. So, he’s just really special,” he concluded.

During Friday’s game against Mississippi State, Jaxson Dart passed Eli Manning to become the Rebels’ all-time leader in passing yards. Manning took the milestone in stride, and during an Ole Miss timeout, the broadcast featured a message from the former New York Giants quarterback.

Ole Miss suffered a frustrating 24-17 loss to the Florida Gators during their visit to Gainesville. It marked the Rebels’ third defeat of the season and left them on the outside looking in at the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-football">College Football</a> Playoff. However, a very remote chance remains, and head coach Lane Kiffin used it as fuel for his message to Jaxson Dart and the rest of the team ahead of the game against Mississippi State.



The bye week after the dominant victory over Georgia may have been costly for <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ole-miss">Ole Miss</a>. On their return to action the Rebels were outplayed by a Gators side that has found its rhythym as of late and has completely turned the page on their initial half of the season.

“I usually don’t ever speak about those things [Playoffs] to the team, because it’s one week at a time, but I did a few weeks ago say, ‘Hey, if that’s what motivates you and gets you to prepare better and stuff,’ you know, I’ve talked about that before with them. I would’ve thought after the game, that was out, but so many different things happened, with us being the early game, and percentages are now saying that’s alive, so I did tell them that.”

<h2>Rebels may be without star WR Tre Harris</h2>



Tre Harris returned to the lineup in Gainesville after sustaining a groin injury against the LSU Tigers on October 12. The wideout was sidelined for three straight weeks as he missed the games against Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Georgia. However, he re-aggravated the injury during the game versus the Gators and his status for the season-finale with the Bulldogs remains unclear. 



Through eight games in the season, Harris tallies 60 receptions for 1,030 yards and seven touchdowns. His absence is felt in the offense, although Dart’s numbers may not showcase it. During Harris’ inactivity, Dart threw for 1,025 yards, eight touchdowns and an interception. Kiffin offered an update on the wideout’s status as the team gears up for a pivotal clash with Mississippi State.



“He’s still figuring it out,” Kiffin said. “Getting some different opinions on it. So, I don’t know much more than that right now. Just a freak situation. He got hit right on the same injury.”

The trip to Gainesville this past weekend for the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ole-miss">Ole Miss Rebels</a> not only ended negatively on the field with a tough loss to the Gators, but also saw Lane Kiffin lose one of his top wide receivers once again. Tre Harris re-aggravated the injury that had kept him sidelined for several weeks, and it was the head coach himself who delivered a clear message regarding the situation.


 


Harris returned to the field after missing several games with a severe groin injury. However, upon his return, the talented wide receiver was hit in the same area, forcing him to leave the game earlier than expected.



“He’s still figuring it out,” Kiffin said. “Getting some different opinions on it. So, I don’t know much more than that right now.” The severity of his new injury is still unknown, leaving his future with the program uncertain.

Although Harris hasn’t played since Week 7 due to his first injury, he still leads the SEC in receiving yards with 1,030 this season.

Led by Lane Kiffin, the team struggled to find their footing against the Florida Gators and suffered a decisive defeat. Jaxson Dart, the Rebels‘ starting quarterback, spoke out after the game, emphasizing his underwhelming performance.


 


“I’m sorry. I’m sorry to my teammates. I’m sorry to my coaches. Sorry for the fans,” he said. “Can’t lose these games. This one’s going to hurt for a really long time. That’s all I can really say. I’m sorry.”

That made a lot of plays in the first half when we had him back there.”

The Ole Miss Rebels took down the juggernaut Georgia Bulldogs and shook the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-football">college football</a> landscape. After the game, the Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin made a big admission on his desire to take down Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.



The Rebels have been one of the best teams in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a>, this season. Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss has put on a strong campaign in the jam-packed SEC. However, Kiffin admitted there was one particular game circled in red on the calendar. And when the time came, the Rebels were ready for it.



“Even though we won 11 games last year, we wanted to beat Georgia,” <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/lane-kiffin">Kiffin</a> said. “Georgia beat us pretty good there a year ago and the feeling of seeing that, the feeling of how that game went and being bullied around in really the line of scrimmages, classic Georgia, what they do to a lot of people.”

After the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/georgia-bulldogs">Bulldogs</a> crushed the Rebels 52-17 in 2023, Kiffin made a pivotal decision. Ole Miss faced two options, either reshape themselves or stay under Georgia’s heel. They wisely chose the former, and one year later, the results are clear.

“We changed the size of our line of scrimmages, the twitch of our defensive ends in order to pass rush against them,” said Kiffin. “But we also game planned against Georgia a lot in the off-season. So it wasn’t a speech, it wasn’t even stuff that was done that week. We spent a lot lot of time leading up to this game schematically as coaches to prepare for it also.”



The changes to the line of scrimmages paid dividends. Kiffin’s defense sacked Georgia QB Carson Beck five times, while Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart was only sacked once.



The tables turned: <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ole-miss">Ole Miss</a> embarrassed Georgia and caused them to fall off the Top-10 on the AP Poll. To add insult to injury, the No. 10 Rebels now look at the No. 11 Dawgs from above in the standings.

Another victory for Ole Miss, this time over the Georgia Bulldogs, firmly positions Lane Kiffin’s team among the contenders with serious aspirations this <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-football">NCAAF</a> season. Initially overlooked at the start of the year, Jaxson Dart now warns the rest of the teams that his Rebels still have plenty to prove.



Each time a new College Football season kicks off, it’s often the same programs that come to mind when thinking about title contenders. <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ole-miss">Ole Miss</a>, considered this year by themselves as the underdogs, have gradually racked up a series of victories and are now firmly in the mix of teams with serious postseason aspirations.



Jaxson Dart, the talented QB on Lane Kiffin’s roster, had a standout performance as his team defeated Georgia decisively 28-10. After the game, the player delivered a clear message to the rest of their rivals looking ahead to what’s to come.



“It feels great,” Dart said, via ESPN. “Everybody counted us out after the LSU game, but we feel like we’re a couple of plays away from being the No. 1 team in the country. We’re peaking and I think everybody sees that.”

In a dominant performance, QB Jaxson Dart accounted for 199 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also added a team-high 50 rushing yards on eight carries. There’s no doubt the player is enjoying a stellar season, and Rebels fans are certainly appreciative of his efforts.

<h2>Kiffin’s revenge against Georgia</h2>



The game against the Bulldogs was never going to be just another match for Ole Miss head coach <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/lane-kiffin">Lane Kiffin</a>. He made that clear from the start with a dominant performance from his players. After the Rebels secured the victory, it was the coach himself who shared his feelings of redemption.



“A year ago we lost to these guys by like 30. We made a decision, we’ve got to recruit differently. We’ve got to to go shopping. We planned for this game for a year, game-planned all offseason,” Kiffin said, per Pete Nakos of On3.



While the final result doesn’t determine the future for the Rebels, these victories are incredibly important, not only in terms of performance but also for morale, especially with the regular season nearing its end.

A Bye Week is on the horizon for the Rebels, which comes at the perfect time to recharge and prepare for the final stretch of the season with the entire roster available physically.



Upon their return, Ole Miss will travel to Gainesville on Saturday, November 23, to face the Florida Gators. They will then close out their regular season on the road, heading to Oxford to take on Mississippi State, November 30th.

The Rebels 7-2 record is dragged down due to their 3-2 record within the SEC. Ahead of the pivotal matchup, head coach Lane Kiffin sent out a warning to his players on the importance of taking down Kirby Smart, and the Bulldogs in order to keep their season alive.



Ole Miss is on the outside looking in to the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-football">College Football</a> Playoffs bracket. Georgia’s spot is virtually secured, albeit a disaster over the final four games of the NCAA season.

Kiffin is well aware of the tall order ahead and has issued a warning to his players on facing Smart’s powerhouse program in Athens.

“Outside of Alabama, they’ve won 51-straight games. Let me repeat that. 51-straight games. Not non-conference. Not in-conference. That’s 51, including playoffs, straight games. The last time these two schools met Georgia got the best of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ole-miss">Ole Miss</a> and handed them an embarrassing 52-17 loss. The Rebels are not the same team and this won’t be their first rodeo, however, facing the Dawgs will always be a demanding task.

“I think Jaxson Dart is playing (like) probably one of the best quarterbacks playing in the country in terms of explosive plays,” Smart stated, via On3. “A lot of respect for how he competes. I mean, the guy runs extremely physical, like a SEC running back. He doesn’t try to avoid contact — he actually seeks it.”



Smart also took notice of Ole Miss’ defense: “Lane’s done an incredible job of getting talented players, big, physical. The improvement on defense for them is extremely noticeable. These guys are disruptive, powerful, fast, tons of sacks, tons of tackles for loss.“
