It’s not a secret that Draymond Green is one of the most versatile defenders in the league. He can guard one through five and is one of the main reasons why the Golden State Warriors became such a dominant dynasty in the NBA.

Green’s value may be at an all-time low right now, though, as he’s coming off the worst scoring season of his career. In fact, he finished with more total rebounds and assists than points, becoming the first player in NBA history to accomplish such an odd feature.

That’s why the Portland Trail Blazers might as well swoop in and fulfill their lifelong dream. They’ve coveted Green for years and he’d be perfect to anchor their ever-struggling defense, and Lee Tran of Fadeaway World put together a trade offer that would be just too good for the Warriors not to take it.

The Trade That Could Send Draymond Green To Portland

Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Draymond Green
Golden State Warriors Receive: Norman Powell (sign and trade), Robert Covington, Anfernee Simmons, two first-round picks, a second-round pick

This way, the Golden State Warriors will land another much-needed scoring threat in Norman Powell. Anfernee Simmons has also shown glimpses of being an explosive scorer off the bench, while their defense wouldn’t take a massive hit with the addition of Robert Covington.

While Covington isn’t the defender Draymond is, he’s also used to playing as a small-ball big and is a way better shooter. Also, the three draft picks make this offer just too enticing not to at least consider it, especially given Draymond’s age.

As for the Blazers, they’d get another ball-handler and playmaker that could free both CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard from those duties. Obviously, McCollum isn’t the shooter nor the defender Klay Thompson is, but they could still take their offense to a whole new level.

Moreover, Green would finally anchor their defense. He could easily play next to Jusuf Nurkic or as a small-ball center when needed in lineups featuring more shooters. It’s a long shot, but it seems like a win-win situation.
