Trent McDuffie drops three-word message in first post since Chiefs traded him to LA Rams in 2026

For the first time since his trade from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Los Angeles Rams was confirmed, cornerback Trent McDuffie made a public appearance with a three-word message before the 2026 NFL season.

“God is good,” McDuffie wrote on his X account, @trent_mcduffie. The message was accompanied by a blue heart emoji, signaling that he is embracing his new surroundings as he joins the Rams ahead of the 2026 NFL campaign.

It didn’t take long for fans to connect the dots behind McDuffie’s post. His message wasn’t random, instead it was a direct response to the latest news to come out of the Rams’ building in “The City of Angels”.

McDuffie signs record-breaking extension with the Rams

McDuffie’s message on social media may be seen as a “thank you” message for his new organization, as well as a warning shot at Kansas City. After the Chiefs opted to trade—rather than re-sign—McDuffie, the star defensive back has put pen to paper on a lucrative deal with the Rams.

“Rams and Trent McDuffie reached agreement today on a record four-year, $124 million extension that includes $100 million guaranteed and makes him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history,” as reported by Adam Schefter.

Thanks to his extension in Los Angeles, McDuffie now leads the list of the highest-paid cornerbacks in the NFL heading into the 2026 NFL season.

Chiefs add another DB list to infamous list

While the news came as a shock for the entire NFL landscape, the signs were always there to guess Kansas City may move on from McDuffie. As the former 21st overall pick in 2022 was shipped off to So Cal, the Chiefs repeated history.

Since signing Eric Berry to a six-year extension in 2017, the Chiefs have yet to hand a second contract to a defensive back they drafted.
