The Cleveland Browns are facing the Carolina Panthers in a preseason game, where rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders scored his first touchdown—an important milestone as he competes for the starting job against Joe Flacco ahead of the upcoming NFL season.
Sanders rolled to his left on a bootleg before finding receiver Kaden Davis in the back of the end zone for a 7-yard touchdown. He threw his first NFL touchdown pass with 14:54 remaining in the second quarter.
On the first play of the second quarter, Sanders targeted Davis, who ran a route to the left. He delivered a well-placed pass that Davis easily caught for the score. Sanders lofted the ball over defender Damani Richardson, while cornerback Corey Thornton was covering Davis.
The Browns have a lot to improve if they want to climb the standings next season after finishing last in the AFC North. They are placing their bets on their new quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, who is already showing his potential. This touchdown is likely just the first of many to come.
LeBron James praises Sanders after first TD
The current NBA legend, widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time, recognizes the potential that Shedeur Sanders brings to the Browns. It’s worth noting that LeBron likely supports the team after his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The King took to his official X account (formerly Twitter) to share a message about Sanders’ performance: “That young [man’s] looking good out there! Shedeur Sanders. Keep going UP!!! HEAD down on the grind and HEAD high to the most high.”
A perfect message that Sanders will surely see and use as motivation. While LeBron James isn’t part of the NFL, his stature as an elite athlete and his encouragement are more than enough to inspire Sanders to keep pushing and prove just how far he can go. And it seems Sanders is ready to do just that.
