Former NBA champion has serious doubts about Cooper Flagg

As good a prospect as he is, Cooper Flagg might not live up to the hype, says Tony Allen.

For years, Duke star Cooper Flagg has been penciled in as the best player in his class. He hadn’t played a single minute of college basketball, yet he was still the consensus first-overall pick.

Flagg’s ability to stretch the floor with his shooting and protect the rim with his defense makes him a unique player. He’s like a guard trapped in a seven-footer’s body.

Nevertheless, as impressive as his game and measurements are, former NBA champion Tony Allen still isn’t buying the hype. Instead, he thinks he will be a very good role player.

Tony Allen doesn’t think Cooper Flagg will be a star

ā€œI don’t think Cooper Flagg going to turn your franchise around like that,ā€ Allen said. ā€œI’m serious. I ain’t seein’ KD (Kevin Durant). I’m just not seeing all that. I’m seeing (former Utah Jazz forward) Andrei Kirilenko. That’s who I’m seeing, bro.ā€

But even if that’s the case, Andrei Kirilenko was a winning 3-and-D player back in the day, and while the No. 1 pick might be too rich for him, ten out of ten teams would’ve still liked to have him.
