Aaron Judge remains a cornerstone for the New York Yankees, but he needs his teammates healthy if the team hopes to stay on track this season. Unfortunately, two players could be sidelined following recent injuries.
One of them is outfielder Jasson Dominguez, who appeared to injure his thumb in the fifth inning of the final game against the Dodgers. According to manager Aaron Boone, Dominguez is expected to undergo testing after experiencing discomfort while gripping the bat.
“I don’t think there’s much concern about it, just a left thumb contusion, so we’re gonna see tomorrow how it feels,” Dominguez said after the game. “Right now, I’m already feeling better, so I don’t think there’s anything concerning.”
Tough blow to Yankees bullpen
Judge and the Yankees are also facing potential trouble in the bullpen. Reliever Luke Weaver, currently the team’s most reliable closer, was unavailable to pitch the final inning against the Dodgers due to a muscle issue.

Luke Weaver #30 of the New York Yankees reacts after pitching during the eighth inning of Game Four of the 2024 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Yankee Stadium on October 29, 2024 in the Bronx borough of New York City.
“He felt something after he finished warming up, and then when he went to stretch, he felt something in the middle of his hammy,” Boone explained. “So we had to make a switch on the fly there. We’re hoping it’s not too serious.”

What would the Yankees lose without Dominguez?
Losing Dominguez would be a blow to the Yankees’ offense. He’s currently hitting .247 and had already launched six home runs in just his third stint with the team—matching his total from 2023 and 2024 combined. Through 49 games this MLB season, he had been making real strides and was contributing well alongside Judge.
