The MLB trade deadline is just around the corner, which means most contending teams are working overtime to try and get some deals done. And, according to multiple reports, the New York Yankees have already picked up the phone to ask about San Francisco Giants' Kevin Gausman.

Brian Cashman and the Yankees are reportedly set to be buyers ahead of the deadline and they sure have a couple of pieces to spare, including Clint Frazier, Miguel Andújar, and several highly-ranked prospects.

And given the fact that the Giants are unlikely to make a late push for a playoff berth in the first year of the post-Bruce Bochy era, the Bay area team may be wise to at least listen to what they have to say.

Kevin Gausman: A Solid Trade Candidate For The Yankees

Kevin Gausman has posted a 1-1 record with the Giants thus far. He's posted a 4.65 ERA, 3.10 FIP, 1.290 WHIP, with 12.19 strikeouts and 1.74 walks per 9 innings this season. Also, hitters have swung and missed in over 85% of his throws.

The Giants signed Gausman to a 1-year, $9 million deal and he's been a solid pickup for them thus far. Also, he's quite familiar with the AL East given his past with the Baltimore Orioles (2013-17).

MLB Trade Rumors: Yankees Looking For A Starting Pitcher

The Yankees are reportedly testing the waters on multiple starting pitchers, including Cleveland's Mike Clevinger and Zach Plesac, and Seattle's Taijuan Walker and/or Marco González.

New York signed Gerrit Cole to a massive deal before the start of the season but it seems like Aaron Boone wants to leave nothing to chance this season and make it back to the World Series, so he won't hesitate to pull the trigger on a deal.
