Aaron Rodgers publicly admitted that one of the main reasons he decided to join the Pittsburgh Steelers was DK Metcalf. The quarterback spoke highly of his new wide receiver during an interview with Pat McAfee.

“He’s a big reason that I’m in Pittsburgh as well. The conversations that we had and just the kind of person that he is. It started here. I really didn’t know DK at all. He’s like: ‘I work out 6:00 am every day.’ I’m like: ‘Ok. This guy is disciplined. This guy has a drive.’ I said: ‘How about eight o’clock?’ So, he’s just not a specimen, but he’s a really solid human being.”

Metcalf was traded from the Seahawks to Pittsburgh because Mike Tomlin wants to set the tone at every position with physicality. Following the departure of George Pickens, there’s no doubt that the veteran is now the leader of the wide receiver room.

How long is DK Metcalf’s contract with Steelers?

DK Metcalf is under contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers through the 2029 season after signing a five-year deal worth $150 million ($80 million guaranteed). The deal includes a $30 million signing bonus.

Aaron Rodgers has been impressed by Metcalf’s work ethic and believes it will serve as an example for other wide receivers on the team, such as Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson.

“He is a solid dude. He leads by example. The way he practices. That’s one of the most encouraging things. The room goes how the top dog goes and when DK catches a ball and finishes 60 yards to the end zone, it makes everybody else want to do the same thing.”
