Kevin Stefanski has confirmed that Shedeur Sanders will officially be the backup quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in Week 6 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This puts the rookie one step closer to his NFL debut.
After being selected in the fifth round of the 2025 Draft, Shedeur began training camp in the No. 4 spot behind names like Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel. However, in just five weeks, he is very close to getting his opportunity.
Itâs important to remember that Pickett was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in August, and just this week, the Browns sent Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals. Now, Stefanski is betting on two rookies to lead his 2025 project, and an injury or poor performance by Gabriel would give the green light for Shedeur to make an appearance in Pittsburgh.
