The Dallas Cowboys were dealt a major blow to their playoff aspirations when Dak Prescott suffered a gruesome, career-jeoparding ankle injury during last Sunday's win over the New York Giants.

America's Team had to roll with Andy Dalton as Prescott's back up and he was efficient enough to lead them to a win over their divisional rivals, taking their record to 2 wins and 3 losses through the first five weeks of the 2020 NFL season.

Then again, there are still a lot of doubts regarding the Dallas Cowboys' plans for the immediate future in the wake of Prescott's season-ending injury and whether they'll trade for another gunslinger or not.

Jerry Jones Says He's Not Interested In Trading For Another Quarterback

However, team owner Jerry Jones recently reached out to Calvin Watkins of Dallas News to confirm that he's got "little interest" in trading for another quarterback after signing Garrett Gilbert from the Cleveland Browns' practice squad.

It's pretty clear that Jones is fully confident in Dalton's abilities to lead the team to the playoffs, as a lot of people even hinted that he signed him as an insurance policy in the case they couldn't reach an agreement with Prescott over his new contract.

Truth be told, Dalton is perhaps the best replacement they could've hoped for in the free agency, considering he was at the helm with the Cincinnati Bengals for years and led them to multiple playoff berths, although constantly falling short of the goal.

Now, it seems like star running back Ezekiel Elliott will have even more pressure on his shoulders, while coach Mike McCarthy may get a pass if they don't make the playoffs this season in the wake of Prescott's injury.

As for Prescott, he's likely to be ready for the start of the 2021 season so it'll be up to Dalton to prove that he's still got it and find a starting quarterback gig either with the Cowboys or any other team.
