NFL News: Aaron Rodgers has reportedly put Mike Tomlin and Steelers in a predicament with his latest stance

Aaron Rodgers' silence has Pittsburgh on edge. With the draft looming and no commitment from the four-time MVP, Mike Tomlin and the Steelers are left in limbo, forced to weigh their future at quarterback without clarity from the veteran star.

Aaron Rodgers has not spoken with the Pittsburgh Steelers just as a week has passed since his interview on The Pat McAfee Show. According to a report by Dianna Russini, the quarterback has the team in complete uncertainty.

“The Steelers are in a holding pattern in regards to Aaron Rodgers. Sources tell me Pittsburgh has not received further updates from the four-time MVP following his ‘Pat McAfee Show’ appearance last Thursday, in which he said he was ‘open to anything and attached to nothing’ while he continued to focus on off-field matters.”

The Steelers are still waiting on the former Super Bowl champion, who during his conversation with McAfee said he was dealing with issues within his inner circle off the field. What’s striking is that, with the draft right around the corner, there has been absolutely no communication.

Is Aaron Rodgers retiring?

No. Aaron Rodgers is not considering retirement at the moment, but he also hasn’t committed to signing with the Steelers. Because of that, Pittsburgh can’t afford to wait for him heading into the draft, and Russini mentions it’s very likely they’ll select a quarterback.

“In the meantime, the Steelers must turn their attention to the draft, specifically their first-round selection, No. 21 overall. Signing Rodgers does not remove the need to secure a long-term QB for GM Omar Khan, but with Rodgers’ status in limbo and Pittsburgh’s offseason program already underway, the urgency is there.”
