Aaron Rodgers has not spoken with the Pittsburgh Steelers just as a week has passed since his interview on The Pat McAfee Show. According to a report by Dianna Russini, the quarterback has the team in complete uncertainty.
âThe Steelers are in a holding pattern in regards to Aaron Rodgers. Sources tell me Pittsburgh has not received further updates from the four-time MVP following his âPat McAfee Showâ appearance last Thursday, in which he said he was âopen to anything and attached to nothingâ while he continued to focus on off-field matters.â
The Steelers are still waiting on the former Super Bowl champion, who during his conversation with McAfee said he was dealing with issues within his inner circle off the field. Whatâs striking is that, with the draft right around the corner, there has been absolutely no communication.
Is Aaron Rodgers retiring?
No. Aaron Rodgers is not considering retirement at the moment, but he also hasnât committed to signing with the Steelers. Because of that, Pittsburgh canât afford to wait for him heading into the draft, and Russini mentions itâs very likely theyâll select a quarterback.
âIn the meantime, the Steelers must turn their attention to the draft, specifically their first-round selection, No. 21 overall. Signing Rodgers does not remove the need to secure a long-term QB for GM Omar Khan, but with Rodgersâ status in limbo and Pittsburghâs offseason program already underway, the urgency is there.â
