Dallas Cowboys of owner Jerry Jones got down to business in the offseason, securing the continuity of a key teammate for star quarterback Dak Prescott. Last season was bad, but the anticipation for the 2025 NFL season is starting to build.
In the midst of several important negotiations, such as that of Micah Parsons, the Cowboys want to continue to build strength around Prescott. Jones, who chose Brian Schottenheimer as his new head coach earlier in the offseason, has now made another decision regarding a key player for Dallas.
Prescott’s teammate who was re-signed by the Jones‘ Cowboys is none other than defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa, who was currently one of the top free agents in the league. The new deal includes a four-year, $80 million contract.
Details of Odighizuwa’s deal with the Cowboys
Odighizuwa will make $22.25 million in the first year, while the franchise tag would have been $25.1 million. There was speculation that they might tag him, which would have happened if they didn’t reach an agreement before this afternoon, but this decision to sign him to a new deal gives Dallas cap space in the offseason.

Osa Odighizuwa of the Dallas Cowboys
The deal includes $58 million guaranteed for Odighizuwa, who was selected in the third round of the 2021 draft. At the end of his rookie contract, he will rejoin the Cowboys, who prevented a player who started every game the past three seasons from hitting free agency.
