Justin Fields has finally explained why he decided to sign with the Jets despite Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers wanting him back. Now, the young starting quarterback will try to win the Super Bowl in New York.

“I think, number one, coach Aaron Glenn. I’ve played against him early in my career. I know how passionate he is about the game. The way he coaches and the way his players play. So, I think that was the biggest thing for me and just the opportunity. The fans, of course, the city. When you win here, there’s no better place to win. Those reasons are ultimately why I ended up here.”

Fields’ decision caused the Steelers to focus on pursuing Aaron Rodgers, and so far, they have not received a response from the veteran. In fact, their last option could even be Russell Wilson.

Is Justin Fields a free agent?

No. Justin Fields is no longer a free agent after signing with the New York Jets. For several weeks, the quarterback was available since his previous contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers was only for one year.

The young player took a few weeks to decide, and despite Pittsburgh putting an offer on the table, Fields determined that the best opportunity to continue his NFL career was in New York. Some reports suggest that being benched last season by Mike Tomlin may have influenced his decision.
