Could it be considered a kind of revenge? It’s possible. Given the background of how last season ended in the NFL for the Baltimore Ravens, Mark Andrews doesn’t view the term negatively. The beginning of a new dream for Lamar Jackson and company, interestingly, starts against Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills — the rival that played the role of executioner last campaign.
And it was precisely the tight end himself who took center stage in that matchup, though he didn’t have the best of luck in the final moments of a game that ultimately went the way of Sean McDermott’s squad.
As the first major moves from teams begin to take shape during training camp, Andrews spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on visiting Highmark Stadium in Week 1, in what will be the season’s first Sunday Night Football matchup.
“It’s going to be a great story,” the former Oklahoma Sooners standout said on Tuesday, via the team’s official website. “I’m excited about that game.”

Andrews remains a Raven
After an undesired end to the Ravens’ season, Mark Andrews was one of the main players singled out following the late-game fumble that prevented his team from tying things up against the Bills.

This event led many to reconsider this situation with the franchise during the offseason, even suggesting a potential trade to another team. Despite this, the tight end remained focused and confident that he would continue with John Harbaugh’s squad for some time.
“I try not to look outside the box often,” he said. “I know the type of player I am, the type of man I am. All those things looking forward, I know they’re going to help me grow, get better, be the player I’m meant to be, and get to that end goal which I’m incredibly focused on.”
What’s next for Mark Andrews?
As one of Lamar Jackson’s most sought-after weapons on offense enters the final year of his contract with the franchise, the player himself chose not to focus on what’s ahead beyond this NFL season, instead directing his attention to preparing for a new challenge with his team.
“You’ve got to trust God,” Andrews said. “For me, it’s not looking too far ahead, it’s living in the moment, being present. I’m thankful to be here this year, to be able to compete for this organization, compete for this city. It means so much to me. I just want people to know that. It really means everything to me. I’m excited about it.”
“You never know what’s going to happen,” he also added. “There’s a lot of mouths to feed. [But] incredibly excited for this year, to be able to play here.”
