Pete Carroll wants to have clear priorities regarding the roster he will count on during the 2025 NFL season. The legendary former Seattle Seahawks head coach is building a foundation with the Las Vegas Raiders, where Tom Brady serves as a minority owner. In this context, the decision to release a backup quarterback has been made.
Carrollās arrival, along with general manager John Spytek, marked a new direction for the franchise directly backed by Brady. As part of this new vision, planning decisions sometimes involve letting go of players in key positions.
Since joining as a minority owner, Brady has played an active role in the teamās football decisions. Together with Carroll and Spytek, he has formed an internal group described as āa great sounding board,ā specializing in personnel and strategy matters. That decision-making core has already started to take action.
The player released by the Raiders
The player who was let go by the Raiders is none other than quarterback Carter Bradley, who was released by Carrollās decision. There was no corresponding move, leaving a vacant spot on Las Vegasās 90-man roster.

Carter Bradley, former quarterback of the Raiders
Bradley had seen little action with the Raiders and is now free to sign with any team he chooses. The son of former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley, he previously played at Toledo and South Alabama before going undrafted in 2024.

How is the Raidersā quarterback room now shaped?
With Bradleyās release, the Raidersā quarterback room now includes Geno Smith, Aidan OāConnell, and Cam Miller, who was selected in the sixth round of the draft. Meanwhile, Tommy Mellott was drafted as a wide receiver but is versatile enough to be considered an option at quarterback as well.
