The NFL has a lot of big stories to tell and even more in the Super Bowl when history is made and players and teams cement their legacy in the league. We have a lot of good anecdotes to tell but some stories are more curious than others.

Every NFL fan has wondered what is the biggest or most interesting story in Super Bowl history and also the records that have been set and broken in the biggest game of the NFL season. We are on the way to see the LV edition of the big game and over the years, teams have left us some very good moments.

When it comes to scoring, this game has always brought emotions. Last year we saw the Kansas City Chiefs turning things around against the San Francisco 49ers, scoring 51 points in the game. That was a very good number but it wasn’t near to the highest points scored in the history of the game.

What is the highest-scoring Super Bowl in NFL history?

Two years ago, in the Super Bowl LII, the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots starred in a showdown in the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Nick Foles and the Eagles fulfilled the Cinderella story and won against Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

The final score of that game was 41-33 in favor of the Eagles, as both teams scored a combined 74 points. However, that wasn’t the highest-scoring Super Bowl in history, although it was really close to it.

The game we’re looking for took place in 1995 when the San Francisco 49ers took on the San Diego Chargers and demolished them in the Super Bowl XXIX. The 49ers defeated the Chargers by the score of 49–26 to become the champions of the 1994 NFL season, setting the highest-scoring game in Super Bowl history.

These teams combined for 75 points and scored 10 touchdowns, both NFL records to this day. The Niners became the first team in history to win five Super Bowls while covering the 18.5-point spread.
