The Colorado Avalanche need to have an exceptional 2025-26 NHL season. Following a solid 2024 campaign, the Central Division club aims to strengthen their roster even further by signing a left wing to support Nathan MacKinnon.

The Avalanche last tasted success in the 2021-22 season when they captured the Stanley Cup. Although they have remained contenders since then, the ultimate goal of winning the trophy has yet to be achieved.

Now, the club is focused on assembling an even stronger roster for the upcoming campaign. Their offense has been bolstered with the addition of a veteran left wing, intended to help the team in the next season.

With the 2025-26 NHL season fast approaching, all teams are making adjustments to be as competitive as possible. For the Avalanche, the Stanley Cup remains the primary goal — one they believe they can achieve this year.

In a boost to their roster, the Avs announced on Friday the signing of a left wing expected to support star Nathan MacKinnon.

The Colorado Avalanche have signed Joel Kiviranta to a one-year deal. Financial details have not been disclosed, but his previous one-year contract with Colorado was worth $775,000.

Kiviranta recorded 23 points (16 goals, seven assists) in 79 regular-season games last year. He is poised to improve those numbers and help make the Avalanche true contenders for the title.
