The Formula One World Championship will resume this weekend with the French Grand Prix at Circuit Paul Ricard. Since its return in 2018, this circuit has been Mercedes territory but this year things seem pretty tight with Red Bull and Max Verstappen giving serious competition.

Mercedes has two consecutives weekends getting bad results. After a disappointing performance in Monaco, came a disastrous race in Azerbaijan. Max Verstappen is five points ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the drivers standings, despite not having the best race last time either.

Since Verstappen, Lance Stroll and Hamilton all had tyre failures in Baku, this weekend a lot of the conversation will focus on Pirelli’s tyres. Also, will this weekend have other surprises such as Checo Perez's victory in Baku? It seems like everything will be between Mercedes and Red Bull, but we’ll have to wait an see.
