The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/san-francisco-49ers-t98046" target="_blank" rel="noopener">San Francisco 49ers</a> have recently resurged. But for that, they’re going to need better play from quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who’s been tied with multiple teams over the past couple of years and who has proven to be just a game-manager at best.
That’s why 49ers fans have urged head coach Kyle Shanahan to give up on him and trust Trey Lance so he can develop. Now, Shanahan’s words will finally appease those fans, as he finally confirmed that, even though Garoppolo could still come back next year, they want Lance to be their <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-2021-all-starting-quarterbacks-for-week-12-ranked-20211125-0004.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">quarterback</a> for the future.

“There’s a chance for anything, but I think we’ve made it pretty clear that Trey is our guy of the future, whenever that will happen,” Shanahan said, as quoted by ProFootballTalk.“But it’s also nothing against Jimmy that we took him, but we do think Trey is our guy of the future. Like I’ve said, I think it’ll be really hard, if Jimmy is on it, for him to beat him out right away. So it’s kind of going like that right now, and we’re not thinking much past that.”
“We know Trey is the future here, and we’re trying to do what’s best for him and for our team,” Shanahan added. “And Trey’s coming off a pretty big injury, and we’re going to keep bringing him along and keep getting him prepared as good as he can be to always be ready to come in and help on the plays that we ask him to do. Always be ready to take over if Jimmy gets hurt and being ready to be the future for us too.”
Shanahan added that he knows that Lance could be out there getting reps and getting more experience. However, the team isn’t ready to give up on the season and will make a final playoff push:
“I get all the questions, but it’s way too early for me to start thinking about just getting guys experience and giving up on the year in that way,” the coach said. “I’m trying to do what’s best for our team, and also what’s best for those players, not just Trey, but other guys. Getting experience just to get it isn’t always beneficial.”

“He got hurt sometime in the first half. He said he got stepped on,” Shanahan told NFL.com. “He played for a while with it. We didn’t think it was that bad at the time. (…) About a minute before halftime he was trying to get it going, but he just couldn’t push off it.”
“Hopefully Jimmy’s better and (the injury is) not as bad as we think. But Trey is here for a reason. We want to give him a little time. We want him to be fully ready, but you don’t always have that luxury,” Shanahan said, as per Tim Kawakami of The Athletic.

Lance is an exciting project and maybe he’s ahead of schedule. But he barely played at all last year and doesn’t have a lot of college experience, and he’s coming off a small program in North Dakota State. But hey, we’ve seen crazier things happen, and he’s looked pretty solid thus far.

But for now, it seems like coach Kyle Shanahan isn’t worried about that kind of stuff. It may sound like a crazy or far-fetched idea but it actually worked out pretty well for the team. Even if it’s just the preseason, they were both efficient and completely lit up the rival defense while they were on the field.

It’s unlikely that we’ll see them do this again in the regular season. But at least, 49ers fans can be sure thatwhoever is under center will be more than ready to lead their offense going forward. If not, he might as well lose his job in no time.

“Honestly, I’m not really worried about it right now. Right now. I’m just focused on getting there, learning as much as I possibly can. Getting to know Jimmy and the guys in the room and learning. Getting to know him, becoming close with him and like I said, just learning as much as I can. Then at that point, obviously competing,” Lance said, according to the 49ers’ official website.

Lance is well aware of the ‘red flags’ above his head and how hard he’ll have to work before being ready to become a starter in the league. Then again, he doesn’t seem worried or hurried about that:
“Yeah, absolutely. It’s kind of the same stuff, this whole process and I understand it’s a critiquing process, because that’s what it is. It’s probably the longest job interview that I have ever had or longer than I ever thought that I’d have, but I don’t think I could have been in a better situation. Like I said, just super excited to get there and learn and at this point, like I said, the biggest thing for me is just getting there. Getting to know the coaching staff, and my teammates and the guys in the quarterback room,” Lance concluded.
There’s no denying that Trey Lance has all the physical tools and skills to become a franchise player, given enough time to develop. Hopefully, that’ll be the case and we’ll witness another superstar in the making.
