The Cleveland Guardians need to do something to salvage their season, and they need to do it now. Even if it’s not to compete right now, they at least need to give the fans something to root for.
That’s when Chase DeLauter might come in handy. The superstar OF prospect is dominating at Triple-A Columbus, and he might be what this offense needs to get back on track.
He’s hitting .281 with six home runs and 19 RBI. And with a 15-game hit streak and a 27-game on-base streak, he firmly believes that he’s ready to embrace a bigger challenge.
Chase DeLauter says he’s ready for the Majors
“I think it’s exciting. I think fans should be excited. I’m ready to be there. I’m ready to play. I’m glad that they are ready for me, too,” DeLauter told the media when asked about potentially getting called up.
Of course, the Guardians can’t bank on a rookie to get them out of trouble, but they need to give him a chance, whether it’s to make a late-season playoff run or not make this a total waste of a campaign.
DeLauter has struggled with multiple injuries since being drafted in 2022, but while durability will always be a concern, he has the talent and potential to give this team the offensive and motivational boost they need.
