A lot has been said about Chris Paul‘s future in the NBA, more so after his magical season with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2019/20 NBA season. Paul earned a call to the All-Star game after several years of absence; took his team to get the 5th seed of the Western Conference and forced the Houston Rockets to play a 7th game in the first round of the 2020 NBA playoffs.

Following an outstanding season with the Thunder, Paul is drawing a lot of attention around the NBA. Some experts have claimed he could join the Milwaukee Bucks to team up with Giannis Antetokounmpo. Others said the Knicks are ready to land him in the offseason as well as other teams in the association.

On that note, former NBA player-turned-analyst Kendrick Perkins has given his two pennies on this matter, claiming that CP3 is going to Los Angeles to play with the 2020 NBA champions Los Angeles Lakers.

Kendrick Perkins says Chris Paul will join Lakers in the offseason

Perkinsisn’t afraid of speaking his mind and this time wasn’t the exception. He has become one of LeBron James‘ biggest defenders in recent times and whatever helps the King land the right pieces to keep ruling the league, Perkins will be there to say it.

“That’s the guy I think y’all are going to lose. We all know how great of friends LeBron James and Chris Paul are. Chris Paul has been on record this offseason saying that his destinations are the Lakers in L.A. or with New York.

And I think he’s going to be a Laker. I’m telling you. I can see it happening right now, with him and Sam Presti possibly coming up with a buyout if they can’t come together and get a trade done.

I’m like 85% sure Chris Paul will be a Laker next year.”

It’s highly unlikely that Rajon Rondo will re-sign with the team and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has shown his desire to earn big money in Los Angeles. CP3 has one of the worst contracts in the NBA and the Lakers would have to maneuver to assemble a good team around LeBron James and Anthony Davis if they absorb Paul’s hefty contract.

The Lakers have gotten used to taking big risks so if this is to be believed, it shouldn’t surprise anybody. Long-time friends Chris Paul and LeBron James would finally play together and the Lakers would be a great show every night.
