The world lost Diego Maradona this November 25 after he lived a very wildlife, full of ups, downs and plenty of stories to remember. Diego had a clear political ideology but he never hesitated to speak his mind when it came to politics.
Back in 2005, El Pelusa shocked the world when he revealed he wanted Chicago Bulls legendMichael Jordan to run for office in the United States. At the time, Jordan had two years retired from the game and at his age, he was still a very famous person.
MJ was never the most political figure but Diego always dropped intriguing ideas whenever he had the chance and that time wasn’t the exception. Maradona was a big admirer of His Airness and he always made it clear.

In 2005, Diego lived in Cuba, and TyC Sports had the chance to interview him. Diego clarified that MJ wasn’t guilty of being born in the United States, but he still tipped him to run for office if he had the chance.
“He’s my idol, I’d love to meet him really bad. I think Jordan would have to be president of the United States because it would give him a sporty touch,” Maradona revealed 15 years ago.
Last year, he revealed Jordan was the biggest icon he didn’t meet, as well as Tiger Woods. It’s unclear if he had the chance to do so before his tragic death, but Diego always made it clear that he was a huge admirer of MJ.
Greatness always recognizes greatness and this is exactly what happened between these two phenoms.
