All eyes are already on the upcoming NBA season, and while improving on last year’s campaign won’t be easy, it remains the clear goal for everyone within the Denver Nuggets organization. Surrounding Nikola Jokic with the best possible support will be key—and one important player from the current roster could be set to secure his place for what’s ahead.
According to the latest reports, veteran center Jonas Valanciunas could reportedly extend his stay in Mile High, despite having received several intriguing offers in recent days to continue his career in European basketball.
Vic Lombardi, a well-known NBA insider with years of experience covering the Nuggets, revealed on Altitude SR 92.5’s show that the Lithuanian big man intends to stay alongside Jokic and, barring any setbacks, could further extend his time in Denver.
“The Nuggets believe he will play here and time will heal,” the reporter stated. When Lombardi was asked if the former Grizzlies player is going to stay if he gets his second year guaranteed, he answered: “100%, because this will give him stability”.
While there is still no certainty regarding Valanciunas’ future, one thing is clear: if this move is finalized, it would represent a significant upgrade for a Nuggets team aiming to return to contender status next season.
European teams also showing interest
Despite the Nuggets’ strong desire to retain the former Pelicans and Raptors big man, an offer from Europe has emerged that could jeopardize the ongoing negotiations.
According to eurohoops.net, Greek club Panathinaikos has offered Valanciunas a €12 million contract in an attempt to lure him to their roster. Addressing the situation, the player himself clarified:
“You can say anything. A lot has already been said, all kinds of thoughts. The bubble burst, and everyone shared what everyone thought. We’ll only find out when the first game is played. Everything will be clear,” he commented during the 2025 B8 Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania.
