It seems like a day doesn’t go by without a lot of drama around the National Football League. First, it was Deshaun Watson and his trade demands and civil lawsuits. Now, it’s Aaron Rodgers and his desire to play somewhere else.
A couple of weeks ago, the news broke that the legendary quarterback was livid at the organization and wanted to be traded immediately, threatening to sit out or retire if he wasn’t granted his wish.
Then again, former Green Bay Packers player John Kuhn believes that it’s still too early to sound off the alarms and that, whatever the problem is, Rodgers and the team can still find some common ground.
Former Packer John Kuhn Says Aaron Rodgers’ Situation Is Still Fixable
“I’m sure contract is part of that,” Kuhn said. “I’m sure that years guaranteed is a part of that. Not just being a highest-paid quarterback or the highest paid at your position. But I believe the security going forward is a part of that, and I also believe being on the same page as having open communication where all sides feel like they are being heard. Aaron and I are friends. We spent a decade of our lives together in the same meeting rooms, on the same practice field. So we do talk. And quite frankly this is something that I believe is fixable.”
That’s surely more encouraging than what another former Packers player said. Several days ago, Brett Favre predicted that Rodgers wasn’t going to let this go away any time soon and that he was going to leave the team:
“I think I know Aaron fairly well. And honestly, I just don’t see him coming back and just saying, ‘All right, let’s just bury the hatchet, whatever caused the rift, and I’m just going to come back and play because I love the guys, I love the Green Bay fans’ — I assume he does — but his rift isn’t with the fans or the players. It’s with the front office. Will he just swallow his pride and come in? Maybe. But I don’t see that happening,” Favre said.
Whatever the case is, it seems like the Packers will wait until June 1 before making any decision on the MVP’s future, with the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders as the two most likely destinations for him.
