After a few years of struggling to gain traction in the AFC East, the New England Patriots made a major turnaround this NFL season. The arrival of Mike Vrabel to the franchise has brought a sense of hope for achieving big things, and with the talent of Drake Maye backing them, they are sounding like title contenders once again.

In a recent interview with the press, the former Titans HC made a confession about who will be his new quarterback, stating that he is one of the main reasons he decided to return to the Patriots.

“I see a young, athletic, talented, full-of-potential player,” Mike Vrabel said, via the Boston Globe. Excited to build this team around (him) and a large part of the reason why I wanted to be here. And just that talent level, to be able to build around him and to be able to grow and help him and lead and run an offense and run a football team is something that I’m excited about.”

Vrabel knows he has a great talent in Maye, with enormous potential yet to be fully unleashed. It’s a good time for New England to once again become that title-contending franchise, the one we’ve been accustomed to seeing fight for big things.

Head coach Mike Vrabel of the New England Patriots speaks to the media during the NFL Scouting Combine at the Indiana Convention Center on February 25, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“He can throw from in the pocket, he can throw off platform, he can run, he can scramble,” Vrabel said of Maye. “You can design some things for him. So I think you have pretty much everything in the playbook that you could possibly want available. He’s not just a pocket passer. He’s not just a guy that’s going to run. So there’s a lot of different ways that we’re hoping that he can be successful.”

The Patriots add a key weapon for Maye

Mike Vrabel knows he’s facing a unique opportunity to achieve great things, and for that, he needs a team that measures up and has serious aspirations. That’s why the Patriots have acquired a top-tier wide receiver to help Drake Maye in the 2025 season.

Joining Foxborough to cause a stir alongside his quarterback is Stefon Diggs, coming from the Houston Texans. The news was reported by NFL insider Adam Schefter.

“ESPN Sources: Free-agent WR Stefon Diggs reached agreement on a three-year, $69 million deal including $26 million guaranteed with the New England Patriots,” the insider reporter via @AdamSchefter.
