After a tough month of competition in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup, the road to Las Vegas has been determined. Once again it will be the USMNT and Mexico doing battle for Concacaf supremacy. The oddsmakers at DraftKings have laid out the odds for this rivalry match that will pit the two best teams in the region against each other once again in a Gold Cup Final.

For the USMNT it will be a chance for Gregg Berhalter’s squad to win their seventh Gold Cup title. For “El Tri” it could be their ninth title and the second under Tata Martino. The United States already got one over against Mexico in the Concacaf Nations League Final, where the United States came from behind to defeat Mexico in an extra time thriller thanks to a Christian Pulisic penalty kick goal.

For Tata Martino, the pressure is on knowing that the USMNT brought a B squad, and while both teams have struggled at times, they pulled out some hard-fought wins showing a lot of character. This sets up yet another interesting final between the United States and Mexico.

USA - Mexico outright

It should shock no one that Mexico is the favorite in this match at +130, the United States are at +255, so for the bettor whoever they pick, their guaranteed a good payout. On paper the Mexican team should win this match, given that Tata Martino brought a more complete squad, but the United States, although flaky in buildup play, have been deadly on the counterattack. The Mexican defense has held firm and have only given up one goal in the Gold Cup, same as the United States, but El Tri has been more attacking minded and fluid, despite not putting the ball in the back of the net. In the outright the advantage goes to Mexico.

USA- Mexico Over/Under

Both teams have been virtually playing the same, with the exception that Mexico has been more creative in attack. The pragmatic USMNT can be deadly on the counter, despite creating limited chances. Still look for the game to be a tight affair, don’t expect a blowout.

Betting that the Over/Under for this game will be under 2.5 goals would be a wise bet, -150 might not seem like good odds, but it could be a smart bet. Mexico- USA matches usually are low scoring, and it does not look like neither team will run the other off the field.

Betting on a correct score line is a game of chance, but taking into account that a blowout seems unlikely, taking your chances that Mexico or the USA can win the match 2-1 the bettor stands to win +1200 (USA) and +950 (Mexico) respectively.

If you want to be on the safe side there is a betting option called correct score bans which give the bettor three possibilities of a correct score, the bettor can bet that the USA will win 1-0, 2-0, or 3-0 at +450 or Mexico at +215.

History will be made in the 2021 Gold Cup Final, a final that once again pits the United States and Mexico, the winner will have regional bragging rights, the loser, well Mexico stands more to lose than the USMNT.
