Duke fans donate thousands of dollars to keep Cooper Flagg in college for another season

The Cooper Flagg mania is in full effect in Durham, and Blue Devils fans don't want to see him leave campus.

Long before he set foot on a basketball court for the Duke Blue Devils, Montverde Academy star Cooper Flagg was already the most talked-about prospect in all of college basketball.

His freshman season at Durham has been nothing short of a success. Now, he’s looking to cap it off by leading his program to their first national championship in a decade.

That’s why the fans don’t want to see him go. According to Akash Das of Essentially Sports, they’re raising money to put together a NIL deal to convince him to stay at Duke.

“In a surprising turn of events, Duke fans and alumni have been putting serious money on the line to keep their superstar. According to the FanStake website, a fan recently staked $7,550, bringing the total amount to $71,555 as fans desperately try to hold on to their star player,” wrote Das.

Flagg is projected to be the first-overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft, and while he acknowledged that he would love to stay in college, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll forgo that opportunity.
