NCAAF News: Deion Sanders adds talent to the Buffaloes in the post-Shedeur era

The Colorado Buffaloes are set to begin their first NCAAF campaign without Shedeur, and head coach Deion Sanders already has a key defensive addition in place for what lies ahead.

The upcoming NCAAF season will mark the first in several years without Shedeur as the starting quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes. Even so, his father, head coach Deion Sanders, remains confident that he has a roster capable of rising to the occasion — and in recent hours, the team secured a commitment from a key defensive player.

Terrance Love, who was a key piece in the Auburn Tigers’ defensive scheme last season, has officially decided to make the move to Boulder and join Coach Prime’s squad ahead of the upcoming season.

The news was reported by college football insider Hayes Fawcett, who shared further details about the talented safety’s move to Colorado through his official X account (formerly Twitter).

Coach Prime’s demands

Deion Sanders knows that in order to make a serious run in college football, strengthening the roster in the best possible way is essential. On Saturday, following the team’s annual spring game, Coach Prime addressed some of the Buffaloes’ potential needs in the transfer portal.

“Let’s start one tremendous defensive tackle, another linebacker or two, two safeties, probably three [cornerbacks], one receiver that’s a grown man, that’s a do,” Sanders said. “[A] couple running backs, tight end, maybe a guard, [offensive] tackle, maybe two centers. I think we got half of that already. You guys just ain’t heard about it.”

For now, one of Coach Prime’s first requests has been fulfilled with the arrival of Terrance Love as the newest addition to the Buffaloes. It now remains to be seen what other moves will follow — and whether all of Colorado’s needs will ultimately make their way to Boulder.

The starting QB dilemma for the Buffaloes

Shedeur Sanders’ decision to declare for the upcoming NFL Draft has left his father with a difficult dilemma heading into the new season. Both Kaidon Salter and Julian Lewis are in the running for the starting job, but Coach Prime has made it clear that no decision has been made yet.

“Ain’t nobody care about that, because I may change my mind tomorrow,” Sanders said to the press. “So what benefits us to name a guy the? What does that do for us as a team? Nothing. That may do something for you guys, so you can have something to talk about, but that don’t do nothing for us. It does nothing for us. I’m not doing that.

“Matter of fact, I don’t even know who’s going to be that guy right now, anyway, so I don’t have the propensity to do it, because I don’t know. They gotta perform with consistency.”
