Through 9 games in the 2025 NCAA season, Colorado ranks among the bottom of every stat in the Big 12.

The Buffs’ defense allows an average of 215.8 rushing yards per game (most in the conference), 426.4 total yards (second-most), and concedes 30.1 points (third-most in the Big 12). Such numbers help paint a clear picture on the situation in Boulder. 



On the offensive side of the ball, the grass isn’t necessarily greener. Colorado averages a total of 329.8 yards on offense per game with only 22 points (second-worst among the conference). Moreover, the attack is disrupted often, as the Buffaloes have allowed 24 sacks against (average of 2.7 sacks per outing)—the second most by any Big 12 program.



Languishing at the bottom of virtually every statistical category, it’s no surprise Colorado is 1-5 against Big 12 opponents. Nor is it surprising that Deion has toggled through his options in the quarterback room, hoping to spark some change within the team.

If there’s one sign of hope for the Buffs, it’s the fact that West Virginia has posted very similar numbers. Both schools are 3-6 overall and 1-5 in league play, with their stats placing them squarely in the basement of the conference standings.



When the Buffaloes and Mountaineers clash at Milan Puskar Stadium, the two sides will be playing to stay alive. The loser will wave its season goodbye, as both need to win out in order to secure bowl eligibility.

As the University of Colorado Boulder did everything on its power to prevent the field-rush, the Big 12 has now decided to rescind the fine for Sanders’ program. Still, Coach Prime had made it clear the school would foot the bill if it had come to that, though it didn’t sit right with them.

However, Sanders wasn’t pleased with how his squad closed out the game, suggesting they may have taken their foot off the gas down the stretch.

However, Deion denied the reports and hinted that the Buffs are taking things day by day. In years past, with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/shedeur-sanders">Shedeur</a> on campus, there was no doubt as to who would command the offense—but now Deion is embracing a different mentality, one he revealed with a bold statement.

<h2>Three’s a crowd</h2>



Coming into the 2025 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a> campaign, Deion revealed Salter would hold the reins in Colorado. However, in only the second game of the season all three quarterbacks were utilized, and Staub put on the best performance.

Still, Primetime denied those reports of Staub winning the main job. Staub could very well be the starting signal caller next outing, but Deion wouldn’t want to reveal that right away. Asked about any concerns arising from having no “solidified starting quarterback”, Coach Prime set the record straight with a blunt message.

For some, it may be an insignificant gesture, but for Shedeur, it’s not. He’s following what his father and former college team are doing closely, and recently reposted a video on his X account of Ryan Staub celebrating a play by doing “The Shedeur.”



There’s no doubt that Shedeur has not lost track of his father and <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/colorado-buffaloes">Colorado</a>. Supporting Staub is a sign of this. After a dominant game with 157 yards and two touchdowns, the Colorado quarterback said, “I had a dream… I saw something and I just wanted to chase it,” right next to Deion.

After all, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter may no longer be in school, but Primetime is still in Colorado. As long as that’s the case, the Buffs will stay relevant.



However, losing to the Yellow Jackets at home didn’t do Sanders nor the Buffaloes any favors. If anything, the climb is only steeper because of it. When addressing the flaws in last week’s game, Deion dropped a very honest comment on his job as head coach.



“We didn’t lose the game because of [offensive coordinator Pat] Shurmur, [defensive coordinator Robert] Livingston, or one specific thing,” Sanders told reporters during his weekly press conference. “I’ve got to do a better job in preparing my team, challenging my coaches to go to the next level. That’s on me.”

Still, the offensive line held its ground during the debut. The unit only allowed one sack to Georgia Tech’s pass rush. However, it did give up six tackles for loss against the Yellow Jackets.
