Aaron Judge remains a pivotal figure for the New York Yankees. Despite his recent injury, which sidelined him a few months ago, he’s made significant strides in rehab and is eagerly anticipating a return to his defensive role in the outfield. His offensive prowess has never been in doubt, but fans are keen to see him regain his dual-threat status on the field.

Despite Yankees manager Aaron Boone providing a less-than-optimistic injury update for Judge for the remainder of the season, the slugger has made notable progress. MLB insider Gary Phillips reported, “Aaron Judge was throwing to a cut-off man and bases earlier. Throwing to bases was considered the next step in his throwing program,” as revealed on his social media account.

Judge’s recovery is causing a stir among the Yankees’ fan base, who are anxious for his return to full functionality in the outfield. Even with the positive steps he has taken, the final decision lies with the medical team to clear him for that role.

In the meantime, Judge continues to be a force at the plate. While he has not homered in four of the last five games, he has still managed to collect four hits, score four runs, and chalk up an RBI. Impressively, he leads the league with a batting average of .326, an on-base percentage of .440, a slugging percentage of .674, an OPS of 1.114, and an OPS+ of 205.

A new opportunity for Judge

Speaking to the media, Judge offered a restrained yet hopeful perspective on the Yankees’ season after their recent match-up against Boston. As one of the team’s consistent performers, he has answered tough questions amid adversity.

In the series finale, Judge has the chance to contribute significantly to the Yankees’ offense. His progress in rehabilitation could serve as additional motivation as he approaches Sunday’s decisive game against Boston, a team that has tallied 17 runs in the series while conceding only four to the Yankees.
