Pete Alonso and the New York Mets had a rough outing on Tuesday night, falling short against the Arizona Diamondbacks in one of their most challenging games of the season. The offense managed just one run, and the team is now looking to bounce back in Wednesday’s game. On a more positive note, outfielder Brandon Nimmo shared an encouraging update on his injury following the loss.
Despite holding a solid 23-14 record in the MLB regular season, manager Carlos Mendoza had reason for concern when Nimmo appeared to suffer a knee issue during the game. Mendoza was visibly worried at the time, unsure of the extent of the injury.
Fortunately, Nimmo eased those fears after the game. The veteran outfielder confirmed he felt pain in his knee, but nothing serious. “I’m good for the most part. I mean, we dodged a bullet, that was great to know,” Nimmo said.

Nimmo told reporters he experienced hyperflexion in the knee but doesn’t believe it’s anything serious. He detailed what happened during the play that caused discomfort.

“I hyperextended the knee when I went down to field the ball. I was fortunate to get out of there quickly—it prevented further damage,” Nimmo explained to the media after the game.

While Nimmo feels confident about his condition, he admitted the medical staff will reassess things before making a decision on his availability for Wednesday’s matchup against Diamondbacks. “I feel good, but we’ll see what the doctors say. Hopefully, I’ll be ready to go.”
Mets manager remains optimistic
Despite the scare, Mendoza expressed confidence that Nimmo avoided major injury. The Mets manager broke down what he observed during the play. “It looked like his spike got caught in the turf and he hyperextended the knee a bit,” Mendoza said. “The doctor checked him out, and he was able to manage it and stay stable.”
Mendoza added: “We’ll see what the doctors say tomorrow. Nimmo finished the game without any issues, so I’m not too concerned right now. We’ll take it day by day.”
