The NBA draft has shown us that anything can happen in the associationand there was a time when they took that to the next dimension. The 1977 edition of the draft saw the Los Angeles Lakers making some crazy moves; understandable, but still crazy.

Throughout history, the NBA draft has given us plenty of stories to remember and this year won’t be the exception. The 2020 edition of one of the most important nights of the NBA is set to surprise us since nobody knows who will be the No. 1 overall pick and what moves we will see from teams trying to trade up or land stars.

Back in the day, the draft had too many rounds and teams had to get creative to ‘use’ their selections. However, some teams did some extreme things, as the Lakers did back in the day.

The Lakers tried to select Scooby-Doo, yes, the dog from the animated series and a wooden chair. The league, though, didn’t agree to those selections and the Lakers had to find a different way to use their picks.

Later on, the Boston Celtics drafted a waterboy for their team, showing how crazy things were back then. The league, fortunately, would realize that having seven rounds for the round was just too much.

This is one of the craziest stories in the history of the league and shows how wild things were back then. Even Scooby-Doo had the chance to play in the Lakers in 1977.
