In yet another incident of fans not being able to behave themselves, after the Golden State Warriors won the NBA Western Conference final over the Dallas Mavericks last night, “fans” thought it was a good idea to throw things at the TNT Inside the NBA team as they were wrapping up coverage of the 120-110 game.

Charles Barkley, who was visibly upset by the incident, got up from his chair and made gestures that he was going to retaliate by making a motion he was going to throw his coffee cup. Cooler heads prevailed as Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson talked Barkley out of doing something that could have led to a major incident.

In the Inside the NBA team’s defense, they were doing their post coverage analysis when fans began chanting Barkley sucks” and started throwing free shirts and other objects at the crew while they were on the air.

Previously the former NBA legend did not endear himself to the Golden State fans by calling them “obnoxious” and being happy to see them “suffer in defeat”. This did not sit well with those in attendance who let Barkley know it while he was covering the game.

Fortunately, the incident did not go beyond Barkley almost throwing his cup and only “light” objects being thrown the panels way.

This is yet another incident in a long line of sports fans behaving badly. In the Premier League in England, fans have been running on the field most notably during Everton’s relegation survival over Crystal Palace when an Everton fan made gestures and filmed Palace coach Patrick Vieira to which the French World Cup winner retaliated.

When Manchester City won the league, fans once again invaded the pitch and began to harass opposing players as they “celebrated” the championship. BBC pundit and former Manchester United player Roy Keane stated after the game “it would appear that since COVID fans have forgotten how to behave”.

In the NBA recently two fans were thrown out of courtside, some of the most expensive tickets in sports, when they verbally harassed LeBron James, and the Laker superstar had the two fans thrown out. According to sources said fans made horrible comments over James’ children.
