Aaron Rodgers is ready to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers in a long-awaited playoff game against the Houston Texans. The quarterback says that one of the key factors to securing the victory will be that the offensive line gives him enough time in the pocket.
“It starts with the protection. They’ve got a really good defensive line. They got multiple guys with more than ten sacks. I’ve gone against Danielle Hunter for a lot of my career. I have a ton of respect for him. He’s a phenomenal player. Will Anderson, we saw him in New York the last couple of years. He just gets better every single year. He’s a high energy and high effort guy who’s got a lot of new pass moves to his repertoire. It starts with trying to slow those guys down a little bit.”
As happened in the last matchup against the Ravens, the Steelers are underdogs at home despite having won the AFC North title. However, Mike Tomlin is facing a significant playoff drought, as he has not earned a postseason victory in nine years.
Aaron Rodgers will face the best defense in the NFL
Many experts predict that Aaron Rodgers will have a very difficult night against the Houston Texans due to their impressive pass rush. Even so, the quarterback pointed out that their secondary is also an outstanding unit.
“It’s a good back end. Obviously, Derek Stingley is recognized as one of the top guys in the league every single year. I think he’s gotten better every year in his career. He’s a good player. Jalen Pitre is also one of those guys than can do a lot of different things. Play high safety or nickel. Calen Bullock has gotten better every single year as well. So, it’s a really solid back end. Those guys play well together. It’s not surprising that they’re the top defense in the league.”
The outcome of the game between the Steelers and the Texans could be decisive for Rodgers’ future, with free agency or retirement looming. Additionally, a failure could lead to Mike Tomlin also leaving Pittsburgh.
