The Kansas City Chiefs have been the NFL’s most dominant team over the past five years. However, after a major setback in 2024, many fans believe Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce could be heading down a slippery slope.
There’s no doubt the Chiefs have built a true dynasty in recent seasons. Under head coach Andy Reid, they’ve maintained a highly competitive roster—but two names stand above the rest: Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
The quarterback-tight end duo has enjoyed tremendous success with the Chiefs. Unfortunately, they suffered a major setback in the most recent Super Bowl, raising serious doubts among fans about their future.

Although the Chiefs came close to winning the Super Bowl earlier this year, their hopes were quickly dashed. The Eagles dominated the game and handed Mahomes and the Chiefs a crushing defeat.
Following that loss, rumors swirled about a possible retirement for Travis Kelce. Such a move would have significantly impacted Mahomes, but the veteran tight end has decided to return—sending a clear message to the rest of the NFL.

One person who believes the Chiefs will bounce back even stronger is Joe Theismann. The Super Bowl XVII champion with Washington thinks Mahomes and Kelce still have what it takes to turn the page and remind everyone exactly who they are.
“I think we’ll see a terrific season, I think also you’ll see the same from Travis Kelce,” joe Theismann told Kay Adams. “I think you’re going to see two men who are determined to put last year behind them and play the kind of football that we expect from them.”
“I think they come back renewed, I think they come back pissed off to be perfectly honest with you. They didn’t like the way things went. That Super Bowl looked just like the game against Tampa Bay, which only emphasized the point that you need an offensive line if you think you have a chance to win a championship.”
