The Dallas Cowboys have started the 2025 preseason with two losses against the Los Angeles Rams and the Baltimore Ravens. A very concerning detail for Jerry Jones is that in those two games, the defense has allowed a total of 62 points.
Although starters like Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and George Pickens haven’t played, the offense was expected to click early with Joe Milton III. However, the quarterback, who arrived via a trade with the Patriots, has not lived up to the high expectations that Jones himself set for him.
All of this has created a lot of uncertainty heading into Week 1, when the Cowboys visit the Philadelphia Eagles. With so many issues, including the controversial contract negotiation with Micah Parsons, it looks very unlikely that Dallas can pull off a surprise on the road against the defending Super Bowl champions.
Cowboys are not ready to hit the panic button
Brian Schottenheimer was clear in stating that the Cowboys’ two preseason losses are not an emergency situation. However, the head coach admitted that they serve as a timely warning to address the mistakes that need to be corrected.
“It’s preseason. We’re not going to panic. We’re not pushing the panic button. We’re pushing the work button. That’s what we’re going to do. We’ll watch the film and make the corrections. I just told the guys: ‘Hey, the bottom line is this. We’re not going to say that that’s just a preseason game.’ We’re not just going to say: ‘Oh, we’ll be fine.’ We’re going to look at it because of the fact that we really lost both halves. That is something that we have to get corrected. There’s too many good football players and too many good coaches for us to perform the way that we did tonight.”
