The Arizona Cardinals are one of those franchises that, despite numerous attempts, have yet to make a major breakthrough in the NFL. The decision to bet on Kyler Murray a few years ago has yet to fully pay off, though many still believe this could finally be the year for Jonathan Gannon’s team.
Budda Baker has been a loyal companion to the quarterback throughout this entire process, though the veteran knows the results haven’t lived up to the team’s expectations. Following his contract extension that will keep him with the franchise through 2027, the safety remains confident he can help bring more joy to the fans.
During a recent media session, the seven-time Pro Bowler placed particular emphasis on the disappointing results the Cardinals have endured in recent years — results he’s confident can be turned around in the near future.
“I was drafted here, I know it was a different GM and a different coaching staff, but for me all I’ve been trying to do is do my job at a high level each and every day,” Baker said on The Mina Kimes Show. “Of course, I’m a sore loser, I hate losing, and my career with the Cardinals has kind of been more losing than winning.

“But for me it’s just stay ten toes down, you believe in what you believe in, and I believe in this coaching staff, I believe in these players that we brought in, free agency, draft, and very excited for the future.“

The trust placed in Kyler Murray
Expectations are high heading into the new NFL season, as the quarterback looks to silence doubters and reestablish himself as one of the league’s most dynamic playmakers. After an up-and-down stretch marked by injuries and inconsistency, all eyes are on Kyler Murray’s new version — one that’s reportedly more focused, mature, and ready to lead.
Jonathan Gannon has made it clear: he is still his guy. The experienced head coach has doubled down on his belief in the former No. 1 overall pick, confident that a full offseason and improved chemistry with the offense will pay dividends. The Cardinals are betting big that Murray’s leadership can spark a turnaround.
With a retooled roster and renewed energy, Arizona is setting its sights on competing in the NFC West — a division that remains tough but wide open. If Murray can stay healthy and play up to his potential, this team could surprise many and finally position themselves as legitimate contenders.
