In 2023, Tom Brady decided to retire from the NFL after a long and successful career. However, the seven-time Super Bowl champion may not be entirely done with football, as he recently opened the door to a potential comeback.

No one has achieved what Tom Brady has. He entered the NFL as an overlooked prospect but worked his way up to become one of the greatest players in football history.

After securing seven Super Bowl titles, the legendary quarterback announced his retirement two years ago. Nevertheless, the idea of a comeback has continued to circulate—and now, he’s given a surprising update.

Tom Brady back to football? The quarterback gives an unexpected answer

In recent NFL history, no one has become a bigger icon than Tom Brady. With six Super Bowls won with the New England Patriots and one more with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his résumé speaks for itself.

In 2022, Brady announced his first retirement, only to return for one final season with the Buccaneers. After that year, he made what seemed to be a definitive decision to hang up his cleats.

But was it truly final? Maybe not. Brady has received several offers to return to the league, and although he has turned them down so far, a new opportunity has caught everyone’s attention.

During an interview with Complex Sports, Brady was asked whether he would consider joining the USA flag football team for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Surprisingly, the quarterback didn’t rule out the possibility.

Tom Brady #12 of the New England Patriots looks on before the AFC Divisional Playoff game against the Tennessee Titans at Gillette Stadium on January 13, 2018 in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

“I’m still very competitive,” Brady told Complex Sports. “If you put a football in my hand, then watch out. Because that’s still in there. That’s never going to go away. They almost need to tame me. They need to put me in a cage when I get around a football field.

How old will Tom Brady be by the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles?

While Brady hasn’t dismissed the idea of playing flag football at the 2028 Olympics, the chances seem slim due to one obvious factor: age.

By the time the Olympics begin in 2028, Tom Brady will be 50 years old. His response may have been somewhat playful, though it’s possible he could still be involved with Team USA in another capacity—perhaps as a coach or ambassador.
