The Dallas Cowboys, without their stars like CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott, and Micah Parsons, lost their first preseason game 31-21 against the Los Angeles Rams.

It was Brian Schottenheimer’s debut as the team’s new head coach after taking over the position left by Mike McCarthy. Obviously, all of this is happening in a very tense atmosphere due to the contract extension negotiation between Jerry Jones and Parsons.

As if that weren’t enough, the first quarter was disastrous and heavily criticized by fans on social media. The Cowboys were down 14-0 after allowing 160 yards of offense by the Rams and 10 first downs. Meanwhile, Dallas gained only one yard in those first 15 minutes of the game.

What happened with CeeDee Lamb?

CeeDee Lamb was celebrating on the sideline as his teammate, wide receiver Jonathan Mingo, was separating from defender Shaun Jolly. Suddenly, in a surprising moment, a referee hit him from behind.

The sequence was completely accidental. Lamb had turned around to celebrate while the referee was making his usual route at full speed along the sideline and did not expect a player to block his path.

Fortunately, none of those involved were injured. The images were alarming because the referee’s impact with CeeDee Lamb hit the star wide receiver squarely in the back, knocking him to the ground.
